Reigning World Champion Eteri Liparteliani (GEO) got more than a bit of a scare when early on in the match, Timna Nelson Levy (ISR) threw her for yuko. She looked like she was headed for defeat when in the dying seconds of the match, Liparteliani pulled off an ouchi-gari into sasae-tsurikomi-ashi combination that smashed Nelson Levy flat onto her back for a massive, crowd-pleasing ippon.
-73kg: Shavdatuashvili (GEO)
The home crowd had another big reason to cheer when Lasha Shavdatuashvili, a former World and Olympic Champion, another World and Olympic Champion Hidayat Heydarov in the final. Neither could score on the other and in the end it was settled by penalties in Golden Score.
-63kg: Van Lieshout (NED)
Newaza specialist Joanne Van Lieshout handily won her final against Manon Deketer (FRA) by pinning for ippon after knocking her down for yuko. All of this was completed in under a minute from the start of the match.
