Jacob Yang gets silver in African Open

Jacob Yang got his second Continental Open silver at the African Open in Casablanca. In November last year, he got his first silver at the Pan-American Open in Montreal.

Yang scored ippon with a very low ura-nage in the first minute of his first match, against Mohamed Naami (MAR).

He won his second match also within a minute, using his favorite cross-grip drop morote-seoi-nage to throw Adris Jakubauskas (LTU) for ippon.

Soulaimane El Mekkaoui (MAR) gave him a hard time and took him into Golden Score. Once there, Yang threw him with a cross-grip morote-seoi for waza-ari.

As if to prove that his previous match, which went into Golden Score, was an anomaly, Yang threw his next opponent, Neil MacDonald (GBR), with his favorite cross-grip morote-seoi-nage for ippon in 37 seconds.

In the final, Yang found himself faced against Saigid Kerimov (RUS) who threw him with a hopping uchimata for ippon.
