A summer full of Judo with the American Judo System

Who’s ready for summer? The American Judo System is excited for a summer packed with Judo! The AJS team is here to bring you another monthly newsletter of all things Judo! 

Before we get started with what you can expect in June, we want to take a moment to congratulate all of the senior level judoka who competed at US Senior Nationals in Spokane, Washington! Also, remember to check out the new Newaza Encyclopedia that was released in May, the Cuban Roll! Reminder, if you are a USA Judo member, you can use the same email address associated with your USA Judo membership to create an account with the American Judo System, which will give you Single Sign On Access to all the available AJS Encyclopedias!

Now let’s dive into all things AJS in June!

American Judo Tournaments:


NEW Newaza Encyclopedia

On June 10th the American Judo System will be releasing a NEW Newaza Encyclopedia! The Front Headlock Encyclopedia will provide AJS members with 15 minutes of content related to four different turnovers from the Front Headlock position. Remember to set up your Single Sign On Access with your USA Judo email to create an American Judo account that gives you access to all of the AJS Video Encyclopedias!

2023 USA Judo Junior Olympics

June 16th through the 18th the American Judo System will be present at the 2023 Junior Olympics in Shreveport, Louisiana. All coaches, judoka, gym owners, tournament directors, and parents remember to stop by the AJS booth to see how you can utilize the American Judo System to your advantage to help grow the sport of Judo in your community!

Live Sessions in June: 

  • June 11th - Travis Live Session - Front Headlock 
  • June 18th - Exclusive Coaches Only Live Session with Steve Cohen
  • June 25th - Q&A Live Session with Steve Cohen & Travis Stevens

Join Travis Stevens on June 11th at 10am for his Live Session. He will be going over an in depth review of this month's encyclopedia release the Front Headlock!

Steve Cohen will be hosting his Exclusive Coaches Only Live Session on June 18th at 12:00pm EST. Steve is happy to bring together all coaches, especially all of our dad coaches, on Father’s Day to talk some Judo! As always, Steve will be releasing his Coaches Letter in the coming weeks before his Live Session. Be on the lookout!

As always, Steve Cohen & Travis Stevens will come together on the last Sunday of the month, June 25th at 12:00pm EST, for a Q&A Live Session. Remember to reply to this email with any and all questions for Steve and Travis!

IJF Events

June is packed with IJF events almost every weekend of the month! Be on the lookout for full recaps for the 2023 installments of the Dushanbe Grand Prix, Prague Junior European Cup, European Judo Championship Veterans, Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam, and the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam!
