Team USA got a total of 3 golds, 9 silvers and 5 bronzes. The three gold medalists were Christoper Velazco at -60kg, Daniel Liubimovski at -100kg and Mariah Holguin at -57kg.
Men’s -60kg
It was an All-American final with Christopher Velazco defeating Joshua Yang to win the gold medal. The last time they fought was in the semifinal of the Lima Grand Prix in October, where Yang won. Anakin Mendoza won one and lost one fight. Trent Tono won his first fight and lost to Yang in the quarterfinal. Cameron Cardona lost his first fight.
Women’s -48kg
Malia Manibog made it to the final but lost to Heidi Quah (CAN) and had to settle for silver. The last time they fought was in the final of the 2024 edition of the Montreal Panamerican Open, where Manibog also lost. Anat Tsyrlin, who fought Manibog in the semifinal, lost her bronze medal match to Ekaterina Danilkov (CAN) and came in fifth. Kaycie Tanimoto lost her first match.
Men’s -66kg
Jacob Yang made it to the final but lost to Julien Frascadore (CAN). Nathan Swanson-Dinsmore lost his first-round match.
Women’s -52kg
Toni Pepia defeated teammate Sariuna Tsyzhipova in the semifinal but lost to Francine Echevarria (PUR) in the final. Tsyzhipova lost the bronze medal match to Melody Grenier (CAN). Emily Sway and Devin Amtmann both lost their first-round matches.
Men’s -73kg
Antonio Alvarado won his first match, against a Canadian player but lost his next match, also to a Canadian player. He then lost his repechage match, to yet another Canadian player.
Women’s -57kg
Mariah Holguin delivered the USA’s second gold by defeating Laurence Gagnon (CAN). Sofia Capron won her first match but then lost to Holguin in the quarterfinal. Leana Nelson, Elliana Abbott and Noran Elmahroukey all lost his first matches. Capron beat Nelson in the repechage and then beat Heyden Thibeault (CAN) to secure the bronze. Elmahroukey won the other bronze, defeating Danique Janssen (NED).
Men’s -81kg
David Aghasaryan fought for the bronze medal but lost to Ratbek Zhumanazarov (KGZ). Ramon Hernandez Jr lost his repechage match to Lash Tsatsalashvili (CAN).
Women’s -63kg
Karlee Carrouth made it to the final but lost to Carla Van Zyl (CAN). Angela Ryu and Victoria Liu both lost their first fights.
Men’s -90kg
Harutyun Mutafyan won his first match but lost the second one. He won his repechage match but lost to Guillaume Gaulin (CAN) in the bronze medal match. Ian Bouton, Kell Berliner and Ben Hardy all lost their first matches.
Women’s -70kg
Isabella Garriga made it to the final but lost to Holly Devall (GBR). She had earlier beaten her teammate Melissa Myers in the semfinal. In the repechage, two American players faced each other: Chloe Williams and Yasmin Alamin. Williams went on to defeat her teammate Myers in the bronze medal match.
Men’s -100kg
This category saw the second All-American final, between Daniel Liubimovski and Jesse Butler, with Liubmovski prevailing. There was also an All-American bronze medal fight between Hrach Mutafyan and Caedmon Haddad, with Hadded winning the bronze.
Women’s -78kg
In a very small category, Lofanna Onua lost to Sairy Colon (PUR) and then defeated Loundaja Ikene (CAN) to secure the bronze medal.
Men’s +100kg
Philip Horiuchi was the only American player in this category but he made it to the final. There, he lost to Daniel Ede (GBR) and had to settle for silver.
Women’s +78kg
In another very small category, Jessica Alaynick lost the final match to Karra Hanna (BAH) and got a silver. Anna Atkinson lost her bronze medal match to Frederique Lavigne (CAN).
