Upper Austria GP: Day 3

-90kg Gold: Grigalashvili (GEO)
Tato Grigalashvili (GEO) fighting a weight class above his normal weight won his first match, against Jaamal Petgrave (GBR) with osoto-gari for ippon in Golden Score. Next, he threw David Klammert (CZE) with drop sode for ippon. A dynamic drop sleeve seoi-nage against Aaron Santamaria Rodriguez (ESP) was only given a waza-ari because the Spaniard over-rotated. But it was enough to give Grigalashvili the win. In his semifinal, he defeated Rafael Macedo (BRA) with a very low ura-nage for ippon in Golden Score. It was an all-Georgian final, where Grigalashvili was pit against Luka Javakhishvili (GEO), only 20 years of age. He threw his young Georgian opponent with a lapel-only seoi-nage for yuko. Then later took him to the ground and applied an ude-garami while pinning him. A submission gave him the ippon win.

-78kg Gold: Branser (GUI)
Marie Branser (GUI) threw her first opponent, Sairy Colon (PUR) with kosoto-gari and seoi-otoshi for yuko each. She won her next match, against Coralie Godbout (CAN) through penalties in Golden Score. She defeated Metka Lobnik (SLO) with kouchi-gari for yuko in Golden Score. Her final match, against Lieke Derks (NED) was also won in Golden Score, with a drop seoi-nage off the sleeve for waza-ari. This is the first ever IJF gold medal for Guinea. Branser was originally from Germany and had previously represented Congo before switching to Guinea.

-100kg Gold: Savytskiy (UKR)
Anton Saivytskiy (UKR) won his first match with a very low soto-makikomi for yuko against Daniel Liubimovski (USA). He then beat Iosif Simin (ISR) with a pin in Golden Score. A cross-grip ouchi-gari gave him a yuko win against Marat Baikamurov (KAZ). In his semifinal, he threw Giovani Ferreira (BRA) with osoto-gari for ippon. His final match, against Kou Nakayama (JPN) was over in less than a minute. He overpowered the Japanese player with his unorthodox gripping and took him to the ground using Tewaza for ippon.

+78kg Gold: Hershko (ISR)
Sode-tsurikomi-goshi combined with osoto-gari for ippon against Tiziana Marini (ITA) gave Raz Hershko (ISR) her first win of the day. Next, she threw Carmen Dijkstra (NED) twice with drop sleeve seoi-nage for yuko and waza-ari, and then pinned her for waza-ari-awasete-ippon. An osoto-gari off a sode grip made quick work of Akerke Ramazanova (KAZ). Ippon in 19 seconds. The final was the only match where Hershko won by groundwork. In the last minute of the match, she armlocked Giovanna Santo (BRA) with ude-garami for ippon.

+100kg Gold: Tataroglu (TUR)
Ibrahim Tataroglu (TUR), son of the famous Selim Tataroglu, opened up the accounts with a solid victory over Guram Tushishvili (GEO). The Georgian scored first, with drop seoi-nage for yuko. Tataroglu evened up the scores with a yuko from osoto-gari. Interestingly, it was done from a Georgian-style grip. This took them into Golden Score, where Tataroglu threw again with osoto-gari. This time, it scored ippon. Next up, he threw Matheo Akiana Mongo (FRA) with harai-makikomi and osoto-gari for yuko each. He beat another Georgian, Irakli Demetrashvili, in the semifinal by throwing him with soto-makikomi for waza-ari. Again, this was done off a Georgian grip. Another soto-makikomi, for ippon against Jur Spijkers (NED), won him the gold medal.
