Ai Tsunoda Roustant won her first match by pinning Sudaba Aghayeva (AZE) for ippon. After that, she threw Nika Koren (SLO) with her signature floating elbow morote-seoi-nage for waza-ari.
Against San Van Dijke (NED) she used a very unusual sleeve seoi-nage into osoto-gari combination. She then threw Ingrid Nilsson (SWE) with standing sode-tsurikomi-goshi for waza-ari and drop sode o score waza-ari-awasete-ippon.
In her semifinal match, against Aleksandra Andric (SRB) it was yet again another floating elbow morote-seoi-nage that won her the match. She scored yuko with it in Golden Score.
Tsunoda Roustant had lost to Michaela Polleres (AUT) for a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. So, meeting in the final of the World Championships is a sort of revenge opportunity for her. Theirs was a tough, long, drawn-out match which stretched into Golden Score. Ultimately, it was settled when Polleres got her third shido for passivity.
Tsunoda Roustant, a World Cadet and double World Junior Champion, was now World Senior Champion as well.
