Kondo siblings win Asian Games gold

The most famous judo siblings in Japan right now are Hifumi and Uta Abe. The second most famous, Hayato Kondo and Mitsuki Kondo, just won the -60kg and -48kg gold medal, respectively, at the Asian Games.

Mitsuki got the gold first, defeating 2025 World silver medalist Abiba Abuzhakynova (KAZ) in the final using a very slick newaza move. She secured Abuzhakynova's left arm and then rolled her into what is called a "Shiba Lock", from which the Kazakh player could not escape.

About half an hour later, Hayato Kondo secured his gold, defeating Olympic Champion Yeldos Smetov (KAZ), with uchimata and tomoe-nage for two yukos.
