Judo is an educational sport by excellence
The International Judo Federation (IJF) created the IJF Academy with the goal of dedicating time and attention to educating coaches and to help former judoka who are now on their path to coaching the next generation. The IJF Academy has become an important tool in spreading the knowledge, values, and traditions of judo throughout the world, including countries with less experience in our sport. With its customized curriculum and state-of-the-art on-line theory courses, available in multiple languages, the Academy has become a real instrument for judo players around the world!
The IJF Academy took a two week trip to Brazil at the end of April to continue their work in improving the judo standard. Brazil is a country with a long and impressive history in judo. Coaches from Brazil, Peru, Chile, Haiti, and as far as the Netherlands were in attendance for the latest IJF Level 1 Instructor course.
The IJF Academy was led by the newest Kodokan shidoin, Florin Daniel Lascau, who was joined by Kodokan kata expert, Shidoin Sanshiro Yamamoto, to lead the teaching throughout the two week practical course. The practical session is followed by an 18 week online study and exam schedule.
The next IJF Academy practical sessions will take place in Croatia, Great Britain, Japan, Italy and Turkey. Remember to check out the available course from the IJF Academy.
